Cost Effective Solution to Traditional Bridge Rail
Brifen on a bridge - Maleny Creek Bridge
The original bridge became unsafe as a result of floods. The replacement concrete culvert needed a cost effective barrier solution for a lightly travelled road. The advantage of Brifen is that with known ‘bending moment’, the forces transmitted to the culvert are calculable, allowing for a simpler design.
Brifen on a bridge - Cooyar Kooralgin Road
This culvert was badly damaged because the guard rail posts where dislodged during flooding and caused the cover of the culvert to be damaged. As part of the repair the council intended to concrete the side of the culvert. Because Brifen is lighter than Guard rail it was easier to accommodate, and less costly to install than guard rail.
Brifen on a bridge - Overview
The weave pattern allows Brifen to be used in situations that are often not possible with other wire rope systems. The unique characteristics of Brifen make it an ideal solution for small bridges and culvert barriers. Our product design can cope with very tight radii, down to 60 metres, and steep sag, with the Brifen ‘hold-down post’. This means that Brifen could be ideal for the rural windy road, that leads on to a culvert or small bridge in a gully. The Brifen Wire Rope Safety Fence is a class leading solution in road safety barriers.
